CareerSource Florida / local workforce development boards
FloridaCommerce says Florida's 21 Local Workforce Development Boards use federal, state and local funding to provide services through CareerSource Florida career centers, including individualized career counseling, skills assessments, resume assistance, training and education, workshops, job search and placement, and career fairs. CareerSource Florida's career-services page adds interview support, training and upskilling, reemployment assistance and links to apprenticeship and career and technical education programs. Training scholarships (Individual Training Accounts, ITAs) are handled by each local board. One example, CareerSource Northeast Florida (Baker, Clay, Duval, Nassau, Putnam and St. Johns counties), says an ITA is WIOA funding for occupational skills training with an approved provider in an in-demand occupation; to apply you register in Employ Florida, complete a pre-screening questionnaire and meet with staff. It states ITAs are not guaranteed, funding is limited and applications are reviewed case by case. Other boards set their own rules, so contact your local career center.
